Medina Family Photographer | A New Garden

The little things in life.  It’s amazing how much more I enjoy them now that I’ve slowed down my lifestyle.

I was a full-time marketing manager while I was running my photography business and a month ago I decided to resign in order to spend more time with my girls and devote more time towards my business.

During my hectic full-time working mom days, I often romanticized the thought of having a garden.  I wanted to experience the joy of harvesting our own crops and the satisfaction felt afterwards from having created a meal out of those same crops.

But my mind would be brought back to reality.  Gardens take time to manage.  I did not want to spend my precious spare time playing with dirt.  But now that I have more time on my hands, we decided to grow a garden.

The hubby made a self-watering planter to reside on our deck {instructions here}.  Once it was finished, we took a trip to Boyart’s farm with the girls and picked out our plants- kale,

spinach, onion, tomato, strawberry.

We made a pit stop at the table of animal statues and picked one out to come home with us.

The girls helped plant the crops and they loved it.  They love getting dirty.  And I guess I can relate to that feeling.  It’s a bit liberating to get your hands dirty when you spend so much effort keeping them clean all of the time.

And now we wait for our garden to flourish {4 weeks of growth pictured!}
