Tips for Finding a Newborn Photographer | North Olmsted Newborn Photographer

There are so many different types of newborn photographers out there and it can be overwhelming trying to find one that meets your needs, so I wanted to share a few tips to help you with your search.  Capturing your sweet, little baby in those first few weeks of life is so important.  They will grow so quickly that you’ll find yourself trying to remember how small they were they entered into this world…it’s this reason that many parents invest in portraits of their newborn- these portraits are memories that will be cherished for a lifetime.

You’ll want to begin your search earlier than later.  Newborn sessions typically occur within the first 2-3 weeks from birth because this is when they are sleepiest.  Many newborn photographers book up months in advance, so you’ll want to make sure you’re allowing yourself enough time to find one that you love.

Quality newborn portraits require a skilled photographer who is trained specifically in newborn portraiture.  When you find your photographer of choice, make sure they have been trained in photographing newborns.  They are handling your most prized possession and it’s important to understand what training they have had.

For newborn portraits, albums tend to be a popular item since they can beautifully showcase all the images within a session. A quality album takes time to design and thoughtully create. If this isn’t a product offered, it’s better to know that upfront than after your session has ended.

Determine whether you prefer to travel to a studio or would prefer the session take place in the convenience of your own home. Sessions typically take 3 hours and some parents may feel comfortable in one location over the other. If you prefer to hold it in your home, you’ll want to make sure the photographer offers that option and if there are any added costs for doing so.

I hope you found these tips helpful and if you have any questions about your own search, let me know.
